In the writings of the TCM the Shiitake had been mentioned already 2000 years ago. The early cultivation, approx. in the year 1000 A.C., is an indication for the appreciation of this fungus. The Shiitake is called the “king of the fungi” and not only an important remedy for the improvement of health, but it also ranges on no. 2 to be the most favourite mushroom right after the white mushroom.

With its ingredients lentinan, the Shiitake has aroused medical interest. This polysaccharide is applied successfully in the accompanying treatment of tumors.
